There're few places can store a "Sender" email address:

    1) smtp session (in the "MAIL FROM:" smtp command)
    2) mail header (in the 'From:' header)

iRedAPD gets the one in smtp session which is passed by Postfix. obviously your case is this one.
The sender address you see in your webmail/MUA is the second one. this one can be forged to be any email address (and display name).

You need to check mail log and mail header to find other info about this spammer, then block it based on the real info (not the one easy to forge, like "From:" address).

Debian/Ubuntu don't have similar announcement, so i suppose OpenLDAP package is fine with Debian/Ubuntu distros.

    iRedMail != iRedAdmin.

It means files under /etc/postfix/ldap/*.cf contains invalid password for 'cn=vmail,dc=xx,dc=xx'.
Did you change its password in LDAP?

I think this may be an issue with the Latest Stable release of iRedMail being intended for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS?

This is not intended and just an issue.

    Try this:

    - Get a fresh/new Ubuntu 18.04 server.
    - Run "apt-get update && apt-get upgrade" to upgrade all packages.
    - Download and run iRedMail installer.

    Yes.

The key of the tutorial is this sentence:

When a user on server Mail2 sends an email to an internal user on server Mail3, the Postfix MTA on server Mail2 will connect via LMTP protocol to server Mail3. All emails sends to external email domains are relayed via the main MTA (mail1).

iRedMail supports and enabled LMTP by default, so you can try to tune the per-user transport to "lmtp:[server]:24".

Note: lmtp is listening on 127.0.0.1 by default, you need to update /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf to make it listening on external IP address, or simply use '0.0.0.0' to listen on all available network interfaces then control the access with firewall.

  • 11/26/18--19:45: Re: Using external postgress
  • currently iRedMail installer doesn't support using remote/external PGSQL server, you can try this:

    - Setup iRedMail as usual
    - After iRedMail installation, update config files to use external PGSQL.

Dovecot sieve handles vacation message very well, i don't think you need to worry about or tune it.

I trust your, but this is necessary to resolve disputes with the senders of letters, if they declare that they have not received our autoreplies.

Second question very important for me, because one sender may recieved many same autoreplies from different users in my domain. For example: somebody@gmail.com sending message on to my server to several people: [user1@mydomain.com, user2@mydomain.com, user3@mydomain.com...]. If i use sieve_before for vacation, sender will recieve 3+ autoreplies from each of people, who was in "To" or "Cc" header in original message. I need that sender recieve one message from one domain (if possible) from alias or existing mbox (no-reply@mydomain.com, for example).

Is it possible to do this by means of dovecot or postfix?

    Thanks for attention!

    Dear Zhang,
    1. in which files so you can try to tune the per-user transport to "lmtp:[server]:24"?
    2. make a sample of 2 user on how to make per-user transport

    Thanks
    Napoleon

Mail got through MailChimp...now I'm not sure if I can ban this particular address (the sender has a dedicated MailChimp sending address OR he get a random one each time he sends something). I'll investigate.

    Thanks for your help smile

I'm trying to figure out the proper settings for marking and deleting spam messages.
I would like to have anything over 6 (could be any number) marked with [SPAM] in the subject, and anything over 12 discarded. I don't see anywhere in the admin panel to set these two parameters, as well having the ability for users to have their own custom settings of these numbers.

Where would I configure these settings?
    Thanks.

We have been without antivirus capability for a few days now since apt-get update && apt-get upgrade.  Seems to be a permissions error but we didn't change anything on the system.  Can you help us?

I don't really see this as a solution.  I'll just install manually instead of using iRedMail.  Thanks anyway!

"clamav-daemon" service is not running, please try to start it.

  • 11/27/18--19:15: Re: Spam checking
  • Currently iRedAdmin-Pro doesn't support this, but you can try to update SQL table "amavisd.policy" for this purpose.

    - spam_tag2_level/spam_tag3_level are declaring spam and marking subject.
    - spam_kill_level is rejecting/discarding/quarantining.
