Re: Some problems for alias domains

Hi,

Well... thank you ZhankHuangbin! You solved the problem with that last sentence. I did not add the service to the domain!
This is so simple and yet, sometimes I don't even think about it!

Also, the command successfully gives the domain 'domain.com' back! So I assume the query works well.

I know this should be obvious that whenever you want to add a functionality to the mail server, the service should be enabled too. But could you add the "enabledService=domainalias" part in your docs on that page :
https://docs.iredmail.org/ldap.add.alias.domain.html

Thank you again!

Hello. Yes, it' said too many errors but why it's says like that just on one unknown address? As i understand one wrong email is one error, not many? And before i'v upgraded (both my sistem and iredmail) it' did not disconnect right after one unknown user in rctp. as i understand postfix drop connection after reaching smtpd_hard_error_limit that is default oin my system and as i understand = 20. So how one unknown email may lead to hit hard limit ?

iRedMail - integrate into existing OpenLDAP environment

==== REQUIRED BASIC INFO OF YOUR IREDMAIL SERVER ====

- Linux/BSD distribution name and version: Centos 7
- Store mail accounts in which backend (LDAP/MySQL/PGSQL): LDAP
- Web server (Apache or Nginx): Nginx
- Manage mail accounts with iRedAdmin-Pro?
- [IMPORTANT] Related original log or error message is required if you're experiencing an issue.

I have setup an OpenLDAP server environment, and I would like to add iredmail as the mail solution. I've found similar posts/questions regarding integration, but I have not found a clear cut answer. The solutions that I've found don't appear to work, but that is probably because there is a configuration that I have not completed.

Would someone be able to point me in the direction of a post that explains the steps required to add an iredmail server to an existing OpenLDAP environment? Ideally, the mail server would automatically see the existing accounts and provide the ability to create mailboxes for these accounts. I'm not exactly sure how to do this. Thanks in advance.

I can send you the records by email if you like. I do not want to make them public to protect privacy of customers.

I apologize that the document missed "enabledService=domainalias" before you reported this issue, i updated it right after my previous reply.

Instead of using existing OpenLDAP server, is it possible to migrate data from existing OpenLDAP to iRedMail OpenLDAP?

To answer your question:

*) iRedMail requires 7 LDAP schema files (5 are shipped by OpenLDAP, 1 shipped by Amavisd, one by iRedMail):

core.schema
corba.schema
cosine.schema
inetorgperson.schema
nis.schema
amavisd.schema (names are different on different linux/bsd distros)
iredmail.schema

Your existing OpenLDAP must include them all.

*) OpenLDAP configured by iRedMail has hard-coded structure, and Postfix/Dovecot/iRedAPD/... are configured to query with this structure. for example:

dc=xx,dc=xx
    |- o=domains
        |- domainName=example.com
            |- ou=Groups
            |- ... (omit other containers in same level)
            |- ou=Users
                |- mail=postmaster@example.com
                |- mail=xxx
                |- ...

If you cannot change structure in existing OpenLDAP, you have to update Postfix/Dovecot/iRedAPD/... config files to query against your ldap structure. Besides, iRedAdmin(-Pro) heavily relies on the structure, you cannot manage mail accounts with iRedAdmin(-Pro).

That %Lh was doing the mess, just leaving it like this:

"L" is used to convert strings to lower case, why does it cause the mess?

The home folder (%h) is something like /var/xxxxx/user_name/Maildir
If we use %Lh it puts the string in lowercase so it's: /var/xxxxx/user_name/maildir and there is where the duplicated folder comes out.

In short:

%h = /user_name/Maildir
%Lh = /user_name/maildir

I'm trying to explain myself but English it's not my first language, sorry about that.

- Don't use third-party apt repo and just let iRedMail installs PHP 7.0. After iRedMail installation, you upgrade PHP manually.
- Open file "iRedMail-0.9.8/conf/php" BEFORE iRedMail installation, search variable 'PHP_VERSION=' and replace its value by a correct version number. save your change and start iRedMail installation.

Fresh install produces following message for all database interactions...

ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Attempting the normal /usr/sbin/mysqld --skip-grant-tables --skip-networking start + password reset produces...

ERROR 1131 (42000): You are using MariaDB as an anonymous user and anonymous users are not allowed to modify user settings

dpkg-reconfigure mariadb-server-10.3 - also fails to correct problem.

Only solution was to completely deinstall all mariadb + mysql packages + manually reinstall (before bash iRedMail.sh) via...

apt-get install mariadb-server mariadb-client libmariadb-dev-compat

This provides clean install.

Dear Zhang,

We like to have iredmail ldap to be used ldap server for FreeNas-11.1, in short. We just want to manupulate users in IredMail and the users will be reflected in our Freenas user account. Every time we add user in Iremail, It will reflect in Freenas automatically and I can used it to assign right to its folder.

Do you have any Idea how to implement it? Please guide us.

Update:

It turned out that some records in vmail.forwardings table were missing.
These created the problem in iRedMail Pro.

Example:

INSERT INTO forwardings (address, forwarding, domain, dest_domain, is_forwarding) values ('blue@example.com', 'blue@example.com', 'example.com', 'example.com', 1);

After adding these records, everything is working now correctly.

Thanks Zhang for your great support and help!

iRedMail requires a fresh server which doesn't have MySQL/MariaDB/OpenLDAP/PostgreSQL/Apache/Nginx installed.

This should be very easy, but i don't know how to configure LDAP parameters on FreeNAS web admin panel.

Summary:

1: Make sure OpenLDAP is listening on all your network interfaces instead of 127.0.0.1.
2: make sure firewall on FreeBSD allows access from your FreeNAS.
3: configure FreeNAS to use OpenLDAP on iRedMail server for user authentication.

For #3, i checked FreeNAS doc and screenshot of web admin panel here: https://doc.freenas.org/11/directoryservice.html#ldap

- Hostname: ip address or hostname of your iRedMail server
- Base DN: o=domains,dc=xx,dc=xx  (you should replace "dc=xx,dc=xx" by the real ldap suffix. You can find it in /etc/postfix/ldap/*.cf)
- Bind DN and password:  You can find both in /etc/postfix/ldap/*.cf, e.g. "cn=vmail,dc=xx,dc=xx".
